This Associated Press story about the Iraqi government's attempt to reclaim a trove of Jewish books and ritual items discovered following the U.S. invasion in 2003 should be read by Jew and non-Jew alike — not just because it details the persecution of Iraq's Jewish community, but because of the irony of a country wanting to possess the the mantel of multi-ethnicity after all it did to destroy its Jewish community.
