Divestment forum Downtown
Monday, January 11, 2010 at 2:02PM U.S. Senator Bob Casey will hold a forum Tuesday, 1 p.m., at the Federal Building, Downtown (Jury Assembly Room on the third floor), to discuss legislation he is co-sponsoring to enable states to divest pension fund dollars from companies doing business in Iran.
Casey will be joined by state Reps. Dan Frankel (D-Squirrel Hill) and Josh Shapiro (D-Montgomery), who have been pushing for similar legislation at the state level. Shapiro's bill has been passed twice by the state House, but has yet to get out of the Senate. According to the announcement from Frankel's office, no state senators are planning to be at the forum.
Nevertheless, if your interested in efforts to coerce Iran to back away from its nuclear program, this may be a program worth attending.
